BACKGROUND OF CaSEH

INTRODUCTION

CASEH, or the Research Center of ConservAtion for Sustainable Ethnic Heritage, was formally established to become a world-class and premier research centre in promoting ethnic cultural heritage research in an impactful manner.CaSEH was launched officially on 10 July 2023 under Perbadanan Muzium Negeri Melaka (PERZIM). The initiation to establish this research centre was mooted based on the urgency of improving awareness in appreciating the value of heritage in local and international society.  

To ensure the success and smooth running of CaSEH, PERZIM had appointed a research expert from the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia led by Assoc Prof Dr Alice Sabrina Ismail to manage and lead this research centre to its utmost capacity as a leading world research centre in conserving and preserving the local tangible and intangible ethnic heritage. This appointment was made possible after the official signing of the MOU between PERZIM and UTM on 7 July 2023 at the Dewan Perbadanan Muzium Melaka, Muzium Rakyat. The relationship between UTM and PERZIM is categorized as a Collaborative Partner in which PERZIM aspires that the synergistic relationship between UTM and PERZIM can improve the quality of research in conserving and preserving the local ethnic heritage.
